What we do

The Human Resource Management and Development (HRMD) Unit in the Corporate Services Division of the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service is responsible for recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, Staff Welfare and Benefits Administration. HRMD Unit provides a strategic approach in the acquisition, motivation, development and management of the organisation’s human resources. Additionally, the Unit is responsible for developing an appropriate corporate culture, and introduces programmes which reflect and support the core values of the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service.

The Ministry has delegated functions for Human Resources Management utilizes the standard Government of Jamaica employment practices for the Public Service and is guided by the Staff Orders for the Public Service (2004) and the Public Services Regulations and Human Resources Manuals.

Continuous, Comprehensive Learning

At MoFPS, we have drawn up a comprehensive learning framework to equip our employees with the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to perform our jobs. All new employees will undergo an orientation and will be expose to training programs relevant to their respective job functions as well as on-the-job training.

In addition, MoFPS offers its own post-graduate Scholarship, undergraduate Scholarships, Senior Management Scholarship and training awards to eligible employees by sponsoring them for courses which are relevant to MOFPS functions so as to develop them to their fullest potential which is in conjunction to the Ministry’s Rewards and Recognition Programme under the Performance Management Appraisal System.
