TAJ Cashier Arrested Again as RPD Probe Deepens

On Monday, March 6, 2017, Dermain Shakespeare was again arrested and charged by the Revenue Protection Division (RPD) as the RPD’s probe into his suspected fraudulent activities as a Cashier at the Cross Roads Tax Office deepens.

Continued investigations into Shakespeare’s activities revealed that between August 2016 and January of this year, he substituted seventeen (17) forged cheques for monies paid over by taxpayers.

So far, the investigation has revealed that an additional amount of approximately 6 Million Dollars has been siphoned off.

Mr. Shakespeare was originally arrested on the 10th of January, 2017 by the RPD and placed before the Court on charges of Falsification of Accounts and Larceny as a Servant.

Shakespeare returns to Court on the 14th of March, 2017 at which time he will be arraigned on additional charges in connection with the forged instruments including Larceny as a Servant, Falsification of Accounts, Forgery and Uttering Forged Documents.

Four other Cashiers from the same location were arrested and charged after a joint RPD, MOCA and Financial Investigations Division operation on January 27, 2017. They return to Court on the 13th of March, 2017.
