On Tuesday June 27, 2017, in the St. Andrew Parish Court, Troy Blythe pleaded guilty to Receiving Stolen Property in a fraud scheme perpetrated against the Accountant General’s Department (AGD) in a matter brought against him by the Revenue Protection Division (RPD), in 2015.
Rameish Watson and Anthony Munroe on June 21, 2017, also pleaded guilty to one count each of Receiving Stolen Property.
All three are to be sentenced on August 16, 2017.
Their pleas bring to five (5) the number of persons who have pleaded guilty since the commencement of the trial. The fraud scheme included re-activating accounts in the names of deceased pensioners and siphoning off the amounts that would have been due to them had they still been alive.
The arrests occurred after weeks of intensive investigation by the RPD, and a pre-dawn operation conducted jointly with Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA), on October 28, 2014. The Financial Investigations Division (FID) also assisted in the investigation.
A second employee from the Accountant General’s Department who was also charged by the RPD remains before the Court to answer to charges including Forgery, Falsification of Accounts, Uttering False Documents and Conspiracy.
The matter is being prosecuted by MOCA.
