Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr. Omar Davies will be heading Jamaica’s delegation to the bi-annual meeting of the Caribbean Group for Co-operation in Economic Development (CGCED) over the period 12-16th June 2000 in Washington DC, USA. The meeting will highlight two regional studies on the Caribbean, "a Long Term Perspective: a 2020 vision" and "Capacity Building for Development: the Case of the Caribbean Justice Sector." The Minister will chair a session dealing with issues of governance. He will also be highlighting Jamaica’s Medium Term Economic Programme. While in Washington, the Minister will also be having further discussions with the Multilateral Development Banks concerning assistance, in the context of the IMF Staff Monitored Programme (SMP). The Minister will be accompanied by the Financial Secretary Miss Shirley Tyndall and the Director General of the Planning Institute of Jamaica, Dr Wesley Hughes.
