PUBLIC HEARING ON BOUND RATES FOR IMPORTED CEMENT

During the debate on the imposition of bound rate on imported cement, the Minister of Finance and Planning announced that special interest groups would be allowed to make representation on the matter.

To this end, the Ministry of Finance and Planning will host a public forum on the matter on Thursday November 20, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the Jamaica Conference Centre.

Special Interest Groups have been invited to make presentations at this public hearing, to a specially selected group of government and opposition parliamentarians. It is hoped that the hearing will allow a thorough ventilation of the issues, so as to ensure that the best decision is arrived at in the interest of the country.

The public is invited.
