Finance Minister Concludes European Road Show
Minister of Finance and the Public Service Hon Audley Shaw will tomorrow wrap up a five-day seven-city tour across Europe during which he has been briefing the investment community about the successes to date of Jamaica's Medium Term Programme for structural reform of the economy. This follows his attendance at the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington, DC.
Mr Shaw has already held 14 meetings with the investment community in London, Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt and Vienna and will tomorrow meet with 10 additional investment professionals in Zurich and Geneva before returning to Jamaica on the weekend.
Mr Shaw said that the primary purpose of the briefing is to prepare the way for Jamaica's re-entry into the international capital markets in due course.
Mr Shaw has signalled Jamaica' s intention to secure funds at lower rates of interest.
The Minister is accompanied by Bank of Jamaica Governor Brian Wynter and Financial Secretary Wesley Hughes.
