STATEMENT
OF CORPORATE INTENT "Endeavour to promote sound financial management practices within Public Sector Entities in order to minimise dependence on Budgetary resources, and improve flows from viable operations to the Consolidated Fund."
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DIVISION The Division has responsibility for monitoring the financial and operational performance of "self financing" public bodies. Section 2 of the Public Bodies Management and Accountability Act 2001 (amended 2003) defines a public body as a statutory body or authority or any government company.
FUNCTIONS OF THE DIVISION The functions of the Division are carried out through periodic analysis/evaluation of entities' financial and operational performance in or to assess their impact on the overall economy and to develop and advise Government on appropriate policy options for ownership and control.
REGISTER OF PUBLIC SECTOR ENTITIES This Register identifies public sector entities, classified under their respective portfolio ministries. It outlines the legal form, shareholders/shareholdings, staff complement, and source of funding and gives a synopsis of the core functions of each entity. The Public Enterprises Division periodically updates the Register to provide accurate information on the entities.
