To: All Permanent Secretaries Heads of Department

Permanent Secretaries and Head of Department are hereby advised that the date for the redemption of the Government of Jamaica Retroactive Salary Bonds is 1999 September 30.

In this regard, the register of retroactive salary bonds will be closed with effect from 1999 June 30 in order to facilitate the expeditious processing of cheques for interest and principal. The Certificates will not be transferable during this period.

Bondholders are required to surrender their Bond Certif icates to their ministries between 1999 June 30 and 1999 August 31. Upon surrendering their certificates they should be issued with a receipt (see specimen) . The receipt must be retained by the bondholders in order to collect their cheques in respect of principal and interest.

Ministries are to ensure that a list of the names of the ministry, Bondholders and Certificate numbers is sent by 1999 August 31 to the:

Debt Management Unit
Ministry of Finance and Planning
12th Floor

Kingston

A copy of that list should also be sent to the:

The Director
Industrial Relations Unit
Public Services Establishment Division
Ministry of Finance and Planning

All uncollected Bond Certificates and interest cheques along with a list of the names of Bondholders and certif icate numbers are to be sent immediately to the Debt Management Unit, and the list copied to the Director, Industrial Relations Unit, Ministry of Finance and Planning.
