Today, the University Allied and Workers Union, the Jamaica Federation of Corrections, and the Senior Uniformed Officers Association, all of whom represent correctional officers, met with Minister of Finance and the Public Service Dr. the Hon. Nigel Clarke, Minister of National Security and Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Horace Chang, Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service Hon. Zavia Mayne and Minister of State in the Ministry of National Security Hon. Juliet Cuthbert and technocrats from both ministries.
At the meeting the unions agreed to accept new compensation rates offered by the Government of Jamaica.
The parties agreed to have a formal signing next week.

The Minister of Finance and the Public Service is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. R. Brian Langrin as Governor of the Bank of Jamaica, effective Wednesday, August 19, 2026. Dr. Langrin will succeed Mr. Richard Byles, whose term concludes on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. The appointment is made by the Governor-General in Council.
