The National Health Fund (NHF) has retained Jamaica’s highest public sector corporate governance honour, successfully defending the prestigious Greta Bogues Award for Overall Excellence in Corporate Governance at the 2025 Public Bodies’ Corporate Governance Awards Reception hosted by the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service (MOFPS) on Monday, June 29, 2026.

The recognition highlights the NHF’s continued leadership in accountability, transparency and organisational excellence across Jamaica’s public sector.

The awards reception, hosted in partnership with the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ), celebrated public bodies whose outstanding performance during the 2024/25 financial year demonstrated that strong corporate governance extends beyond regulatory compliance to strengthen accountability, transparency, institutional performance and national development.

The Factories Corporation of Jamaica (FCJ) secured the winner of the Finance Minister’s Award for Board Composition, Functions and Structure while also defending the first runner-up title for the Greta Bogues Award for Overall Excellence in Corporate Governance. Petrojam Limited claimed the second runner-up title.

Hon. Fayval Williams, MP, CFA, Minister of Finance and the Public Service, underscored the important role strong corporate governance plays in improving public sector performance and supporting Jamaica’s long-term economic development.

“Good corporate governance practices are instrumental in driving efficiency, transparency and accountability while strengthening Jamaica’s Institutional framework across our public bodies. By upholding these principles, you are fostering market trust, driving long-term financial stability and mitigating risks, all while contributing to Jamaica’s national growth agenda,” said Minister Williams.

Meanwhile, Sacha Vacianna Riley, Executive Director at the PSOJ, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to recognising excellence in governance across Jamaica’s public bodies.

“The PSOJ is honoured to celebrate the outstanding achievements of public bodies and recognise the 2024/25 participants and awardees. These awards were established to strengthen and improve corporate governance practices across public bodies in keeping with required regulations and legislative standards. We commend the commitment of the participating public bodies as they continue to raise the overall standard of governance throughout Jamaica’s public sector”, she said.

Although the 2025 Public Bodies’ Corporate Governance Awards Gala was cancelled following the passage of Hurricane Melissa, the independent evaluation of nominated public bodies had already been completed across nine award categories.

“To emerge the overall winners for 2025, along with recognition for the Best Annual Report and Best Website Awards, is a testimony to the hard work of the team. It is also an incredibly proud moment for the National Health Fund to secure the Greta Bogues Award for a second time. This outcome is the direct result of the fund’s active dedication to maintaining quality standards across the board”, Anderson said.

In addition to retaining the Greta Bogues Award for Overall Excellence in Corporate Governance, the NHF won the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) Award for Best Annual Report, the JSE Award for Best Website and the Financial Secretary’s Award for Risk Measurement and Internal Controls.
