GOJ ADVANCES DIGITAL PROCUREMENT WITH LAUNCH OF GOJEP 2.0

Procurement practitioners, suppliers and government stakeholders can now benefit from a more accessible and seamless procurement process through the Government of Jamaica Electronic Procurement (GOJEP) 2.0 platform. The enhanced digital system was officially launched at AC Hotel Kingston on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

The improved platform introduces a range of user-centred enhancements designed to simplify and strengthen the procurement process for both procuring entities and suppliers. Key improvements include a more intuitive supplier interface, enhanced procurement status tracking, improved bid submission functionality, the elimination of Java software requirements, strengthened reporting and oversight capabilities and full alignment with the amended Public Procurement Act and Regulations.

Hon. Fayval Williams, MP, CFA, Minister of Finance and the Public Service, while delivering remarks at the launch, said GOJEP 2.0 marks the beginning of an even more ambitious transformation of public procurement in Jamaica.

“GOJEP 2.0 is not the finish line; it is the catalyst for the next era of public procurement in Jamaica. Over the next few years, we will build a fully integrated end-to-end digital procurement system, one that connects planning, tendering, evaluation, contract management, supplier performance and payment”, she said.

Minister Williams further expressed, “Imagine in a year or two being able to open GOJEP and see the goods, works and services that government intends to buy in the coming years. A business could then prepare, assess its capacity, build partnerships, secure certification, arrange financing and position itself to compete”.

The enhanced platform builds on the success of the existing platform, which has served as the Government’s electronic procurement system since its implementation in 2016. Over the past decade, GOJEP has improved transparency, accountability, competition and efficiency by enabling the electronic management of public procurement processes across the public sector.

Meanwhile, David Cover of SynerPath Limited demonstrated from the perspective of a supplier that GOJEP 2.0 will continue to widen procuring entity and supplier participation in the procurement process.

“Transformation is most successful when technology is supported by clear processes and when the people who use it are included in its continued improvement. The launch of GOJEP 2.0 demonstrates a commitment to modernisation by the GOJ and a stronger collaboration with the supplier community”, stated Cover.

The launch brought together government officials, procurement practitioners, suppliers, development partners and other stakeholders to witness demonstrations of the platform’s enhanced capabilities and learn how the improvements will simplify the procurement process for users.

GOJEP 2.0 is expected to strengthen supplier confidence, encourage greater participation by micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, improve procurement oversight and reporting and promote wider adoption of electronic procurement throughout the public sector. The enhancements will also support greater transparency and accountability while making it easier for businesses to compete for government contracts.
